Rescue School Kids in Yinhua Township
Yinhua Township (Shifang county) located only 20km away from Wenchuan. When the earthquake happened on 12 May, about 300 students in Yinhuau Middle School were in classrooms. The building collapsed in seconds. Most students and teachers were buried under the collapsed blocks.
After 9 hours of the first shock, the headlights of the trucks driven by the 1st police rescue group lighted up the dark ownship. Rescue started there. After 35 hours hard working, 16 students were rescued from the ruin. During the rescue, there were more than 10 dangerious aftershocks.
Whe the students under ruins were told to stop talking and save their energy before they were taken out to get better chance of survival, several kids picked up the text books laying around them and started reading!
A boy Jiang Meng told the rescuer: "Pull please, I can bear the pain!" and reminded that there were more friends buried there when he was rescued...
Parents of the students were also trying to save their kids. When a parent saw his daughter's body been taken out, he moved on to save others with the survived teacher with grief...
The 16 rescued students were sent to hospital for further treatment. They did not know, some of them may never see their parents again...
